The Yellowstone is an economical alternative for the cost conscious hiker. The Yellowstone is easy to set-up. Designed for family camping, the Yellowstone can also serve as an entry level backpacking tent. The Kelty Yellowstone is a much higher quality tent than you'll find in your local "Mart" store.
The Yellowstone lacks some of the features found in higher end backpacking tents. The fiberglass poles are heavier and more fragile than aluminum poles. The packaged weight of 6 lb. 1 oz is heavier than most 2-person backpacking tents, but is still within reasonable limits. There is no vestibule for stowing gear overnight.
Bottom Line: if you're looking for a tent for infrequent backpacking trips without investing a fortune in gear, the Yellowstone is an adequate choice. |
